AfricaCheck is a non-profit fact checking organisation set to promote accuracy in public debate and the media in Africa.It was founded in 2012 in the month of June. They are involved in the journalism industry.
They are in four countries in Africa(Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Senegal) as well as England in the following cities;Johannesburg, Dakar, Lagos, London and lastly Nairobi. The organisations goal is to raise the guality of information avaliable to society across the continent. It is an independent organisation producing reports in English and French testing claims made by public figures, institutions and the media against the best avaliable evidence.
Most of the employees are qualified journalists who have experience and have worked in similar journalistic positions as they have worked at multiple media houses in their countries or surrounding regions.
How they fact check: Select the claim to check, confirm what was said, ask for evidence, check the most recent(reliable data), discuss the evidence with experts, write up the report, have a colleague review the report and it's findings, publish and monitor impact and lastly it's impact to the masses.
Their principles include a commitment to fairness,standards and transparency of sources, funding and organisation, open and honest corrections policy.

One can get involved by keeping an eye and ear out for important claims that need to be fact-checked. Can submit these to AfricaCheck or fact them by themselves using the tips and guides provided on the website.
